The gospel is the good news that God loves us and made a way for us to be forgiven and restored to Him through Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23). Because God is holy, sin separates us from Him, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). No amount of good works or effort can remove that separation on our own. But God, in His great love, provided a way for us to be saved. Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect life and willingly died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death forever (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). The Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Salvation is a gift from God that we receive by grace through faith in Jesus. When we repent of our sins and place our trust in Him, we are forgiven, made new, and given eternal life (Ephesians 2:8–9). The Bible promises, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Through Jesus, we can have a personal relationship with God and the promise of life with Him forever.
